350 students from foster families - with backpacks for the first school day from A1 and NFCA
Three hundred and fifty children from foster families in Bulgaria are already ready for the first day of school. 37 of them are first graders. A1 and the National Foster Care Association (NFCA) traditionally organized a holiday at the occasion ofthe first day of school for children and teenagers in foster care. This year the celebration took place in the park next to Baba Vida Fortress in Vidin, where the Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy Adriana Stoymenova, the NACA coordinator for Vidin district Tsvetelina Miloslavova (region), and Nina Nedelcheva-Georgieva from A1 handed specially prepared backpacks with notebooks, educational supplies and teaching aids to children and adolescents from the region.
"My wish to you is to grow healthy, inquisitive, and scholarly. I am glad to have the opportunity to welcome you and your parents to the holiday and to thank the NRA and A1 for the support they provide for the development of foster care, whose goal is to grow every child in a happy, peaceful and inspiring family environment. Successful school year!", Deputy Social Minister Adriana Stoymenova told the children and parents.
"I hope that the backpacks with notebooks and educational supplies that we have prepared for the first day of school will bring you a lot of joy and turn not only today, but also the whole year into a holiday. I wish you to be healthy, inquisitive and to follow your dreams. I'm sure the more you learn, the more technology opportunities you'll discover. Thank you to your foster parents who love you and do everything you need to have a happy and peaceful childhood. For us, in A1, supporting your families is a cause with which we are committed long-term and glad to see you cheerful and ready to take the path of knowledge and this school year", commented Nina Nedelcheva-Georgieva from A1 Bulgaria.
"Our foster children find security and love in our families. For many of our students this year, the first day of school is an awaited one, but most of them have already learned hard lessons. Now it is important to show them that they can have friends, be happy and learn successfully, relying on all teachers and educators to accept our children and support them in their adaptation at school. We thank you for the backpacks and for the friendship with A1", added Tsvetelina Miloslavova, foster parent and coordinator of the National Foster Care Association (NFCA) for Vidin District.
The holiday is part of A1's long-term support for NFCAs initiatives, which aim to see more children in the country grow up in a positive family environment. Over the last 9 years, A1 has invested over half a million levs for the cause of foster care in Bulgaria under various forms of funding, the first funding being nearly 10 years ago, amounting to BGN 100,000, and was provided to the National Network for Children. The Telecom supports the holding of annual camps for foster children and teenagers, provides educational tools for students from foster families, and the older ones receive career counseling for young people. In recent years, special dinners for graduates from foster families, reception ceremonies and annual meetings of foster parents have been organized.
